    Britain got the rebuilt Polestar 3 before anywhere else. In October 2025 Polestar moved the car to an 800 volt architecture, renamed the trims Rear motor, Dual motor and Performance, and launched it in the UK first because of UK demand. That change transformed DC rapid charging, up to 350 kW on the bigger battery. What it did not change is the onboard AC charger, which remains 11 kW three phase, exactly as it was on the 2023 to 2025 cars. So whichever Polestar 3 is on your drive, the cable answer is identical. All of them charge through a Type 2 to Type 2 Charging Cable, with the flap on the nearside rear quarter where a fuel filler would be. Polestar sells a 6 metre cable as an accessory, which is why some owners find a 5m lead feels short. Order the 32A single phase cable. An 11 kW rating describes three phases arriving at a building, and British houses get one, which carries 7.4 kW. That is what a Polestar 3 draws on a domestic wallbox and what the 32A single phase lead supplies. The 32A three phase cable is only worth the money where three real phases exist, taking a 102 kWh Dual motor from 15 hours 30 minutes to 10 hours 30 minutes. The 16A cable is out of its depth here. Twenty seven hours against thirteen and a half, on the smallest battery Polestar fits, and worse on the others. A 3-pin cable will not fill this battery, and that is not what it is for. Choose 32A single phase Type 2 to Type 2 for a Polestar 3 at home. No version exceeds 11 kW three phase, a figure a domestic supply reduces to 7.4 kW, and this lead hands over the whole of that on either generation. Did the 800 volt update change how a Polestar 3 charges on AC? No. Polestar's October 2025 update moved the Polestar 3 to an 800 volt architecture and raised DC rapid charging to as much as 350 kW, but the onboard AC charger stayed at 11 kW three phase. A 2023 car and a 2026 car take the same cable and charge at the same speed on a wallbox. Has any Polestar 3 had a 22kW charger? No. Not one UK Polestar 3 has been built with a 22 kW onboard charger, on either generation and in every trim. These are large batteries, so overnight top ups rather than full charges are the normal pattern. What length of charging cable does a Polestar 3 need? The socket is on the nearside rear quarter of a 4.9 metre SUV, so 5m works if you park nose in with the wallbox on the passenger side and towards the back. Back onto the drive, or fix the unit to the opposite wall, and the cable has to reach along most of the car, which is the point at which 10m stops being optional. The 10.5 kW figure that turns up on forums and spec sites is the North American number, and it does not apply to cars sold here. What matters far more than either figure is the size of the pack behind it. With up to 91 kWh usable, the Mach-E holds more energy than almost anything else on this site, and that changes which cables are actually useful rather than merely compatible. First though, work out which Compass you have, because Jeep now uses the 4xe badge on two completely different cars. The Compass 4xe sold from 2021 to 2025 is the plug-in hybrid this page is written for: a 1.3 petrol engine, an 11.4 kWh battery and around 22 miles of electric range. The Compass launched in 2025 reuses 4xe for something else entirely, a full electric all wheel drive model with a 103 kWh battery and an 11 kW three phase onboard charger.     The year on the V5 decides which cable to buy here. CUPRA replaced the Leon e-HYBRID's charging hardware in 2024, and the two cars are not close. Up to 2024 the e-HYBRID pairs a 1.4 TSI with a 12.8 kWh battery, around 10.6 kWh of it usable, behind a 3.6 kW onboard charger. That is a 16A rate. A 16A Type 2 to Type 2 cable fills it in about 3 hours 33 minutes, and a 32A cable gives you the same 3 hours 33 minutes, because the car rather than the cable is the bottleneck. Buy the 16A and keep the difference. The 2024 facelift is a different proposition. The 1.5 TSI cars, 204PS and 272PS, carry 19.7 kWh usable behind an 11 kW charger, and they add CCS rapid charging at 50 kW, which is rare on a plug-in hybrid. Here the 32A Type 2 to Type 2 cable is the right buy. It pulls the full 7.4 kW a UK home supply allows and reaches a full battery in roughly 3 hours. A 16A cable would need six. That 11 kW rating is a three phase number. You will only see it on a three phase charge point with the 32A three phase cable, which takes the facelift car down to about 2 hours 30 minutes. At home, on single phase, the standard 32A cable already does everything the car can accept. A Type 2 to 3 Pin cable is worth keeping in the boot either way. It trickles at 2.3 kW, so roughly 5 hours 15 minutes on the early car and 9 hours 45 on the facelift, which is fine overnight at a relative's house but not as your main method. If your Leon is a 1.5 TSI, a 1.5 eTSI or a 2.0 TSI it has no charging socket and needs no cable. Choose 5m for a wallbox beside the car and 10m where the cable has to cross a drive. Does every CUPRA Leon plug in? No. Only the e-HYBRID has a charging socket. The 1.5 TSI, the 1.5 eTSI mild hybrid and the 2.0 TSI have no charge port and cannot use any of these cables.     Whatever the year, a Tesla Model S charges at home through a Type 2 to Type 2 cable, and the 32A single phase version is the one to buy. On a British house it hands over 7.4 kW, which is all a domestic supply has to give. The inlet did change partway through the car's life, so it helps to know where yours sits. UK cars up to April 2019 use Type 2 for everything, AC charging and Supercharging alike. From May 2019 the Raven and later cars use Type 2 for AC with CCS for rapid charging on the same inlet. One consequence is that an early UK Model S cannot use a modern V3 Supercharger without Tesla's paid CCS retrofit. None of this alters the home lead, which stays Type 2 to Type 2 across every year. The onboard charger is what really varies. Cars from 2014 to mid 2016 hold 60 to 90 kWh and take 11 kW, or 22 kW if the twin charger option was specified. Cars from mid 2016 to April 2019 hold 75 to 100 kWh and accept 16.5 kW. The Raven, from May 2019, is 100 kWh and also 16.5 kW. The 2021 refresh and the Plaid, both left-hand drive in the UK, are 100 kWh and 11 kW. Every one of those numbers is a three phase rating. A UK home is single phase, so all four generations settle at 7.4 kW on a driveway, and a full charge from empty runs from roughly 9h15m on a 60 kWh car to 15h15m on a 100 kWh one.     The Mercedes eCitan needs a Type 2 to Type 2 cable at 32A, and the version you buy depends on the electricity supply at your depot rather than on the van. Take the 32A single phase in 5m or 10m for a standard site. The eCitan, sold from 2023 as a panel van and crew van in L1 and L2, carries a 45 kWh battery and a 22 kW onboard charger as standard. That is the highest AC rating of any Mercedes van we supply cables for. Whether that 22 kW does anything for you is the real question. Britain wires houses and most small commercial units on a single phase supply, and a single phase supply tops out at 7.4 kW no matter what the van will accept. Plug the 22 kW three phase cable into a single phase post and you get 7.4 kW, exactly the same as the cheaper cable. The rating only comes alive on a three phase post. If your yard does have three phase, this is one of the few vans where the upgrade genuinely earns its keep. A 45 kWh pack fills in about two hours fifteen minutes at 22 kW against six hours forty five at 7.4 kW. On a site turning vans round between shifts rather than overnight, that difference decides whether a van goes back out. Check with whoever maintains your distribution board before ordering, because three phase is common on industrial estates and rare on a domestic driveway. For overnight depot charging, the plain 32A single phase cable is enough. Six hours forty five minutes fits inside any normal shutdown with hours to spare, even if a driver brings the van back nearly flat. On a 16A cable the same fill takes thirteen hours forty five, which will not reliably finish before the first run. What length works best across a depot yard? 10m for most yards. Charge posts rarely sit where the vans end up parking, and a 5m cable forces drivers to reverse into one exact spot every night. 10m tolerates a full yard, a shared post between two bays, and the van being left at an angle by whoever came back last. Is it worth keeping a second cable in the van? For a vehicle that leaves the yard all day, yes. A 3 pin cable stored behind the seats lets a driver pull 2.3 kW from a socket at a customer site or an overnight stop. It will not fill 45 kWh, but it buys enough range to get the van home rather than recovered. Does the diesel Citan need a charging cable? No. Only the eCitan has a charging inlet.     An MG ZS EV charging cable is one of the easier decisions in this catalogue, because the car never draws more than about 7 kW on AC and never has. MG changed the battery three times between 2019 and 2023, from 44.5 kWh to 51.1 kWh to the 72.6 kWh Long Range, and left the onboard charger roughly where it started each time. Check the badge before buying anything, though. The MG ZS sold from 2024 is a petrol hybrid with no charging socket at all, and only the ZS EV built between 2019 and 2023 takes a cable. Every MG ZS EV uses a Type 2 to Type 2 Charging Cable. The inlet hides behind the MG badge in the centre of the grille, so the socket sits at the very nose of the car rather than on a rear wing like most rivals. Buy the 32A single phase version. A British house is fed by one phase and one phase tops out at 7.4 kW, which is already more than the ZS EV will accept.     When the Vauxhall Corsa-e was new, the options list included an 11 kW three phase onboard charger for about eight hundred and fifty pounds. It is worth knowing what that box actually bought, because plenty of used Corsa-e buyers are now told they need a matching 22 kW cable. At a British house a Vauxhall Corsa-e charges at 7.4 kW whether the option was ticked or not, since the optional charger needs three phases to show its value and a home has one. The Vauxhall Corsa-e charging cable answer is therefore the same on every car in the country. The connector is a Type 2 to Type 2 Charging Cable on all of them, from the original Corsa-e through to the current Corsa Electric. Vauxhall put the socket on the rear nearside wing, behind the passenger door, and never moved it. The lead to order is the 32A single phase one. It carries 7.4 kW, which covers every charger rating quoted for this car, so you cannot end up with a lead that holds the car back. That point needs explaining, because the published figures disagree. DS UK's own material quotes 7.4 kW and a full charge in about one hour 45 minutes. It clears the front of the car, reaches a wallbox on the far side of the garage, and still works in a public bay where you cannot choose which way you park. If your charge point sits right beside the charging port, a 5m cable is cheaper and easier to store. We supply the 10m in two forms, and they do different jobs: Type 2 to Type 2: the standard cable for UK home wallboxes and public charge points, available in 16A, 32A single phase and 32A three phase. Does a 10m cable charge more slowly than a 5m? No. Voltage drop over a correctly rated 10m cable is negligible, and the charge rate is set by your car's onboard charger and the charge point, not by cable length. Almost all UK homes are single phase, so 7.4 kW is the ceiling at home and the 32A single phase cable is the one to buy. 10m EV Charging Cable FAQs Is 10m long enough for my driveway? For most UK homes, yes. 10m covers a wallbox on the garage wall with the car parked either way round, and it leaves slack for a public bay where the post sits behind you. Measure from the charge point to your car's socket, walking round the vehicle rather than across it, then allow a metre of slack. Does the extra length cost me charging speed? It does not. The conductors are sized for the current they carry, so voltage drop over 10m is too small to matter. Your rate is capped by the lowest of three things: your car's onboard charger, the supply at the charge point, and the cable's amp rating. A 10m 32A cable still delivers the full 7.4 kW at home. Which 10m version should I order? For a home wallbox, the 32A single phase Type 2 to Type 2 at 7.4 kW. Pick 16A at 3.7 kW only if your wallbox or car is limited to 16 amps. The 22 kW three phase version is for workplace and public three phase posts, and it will not go above 7.4 kW on a single phase home supply. Can I leave a 10m cable outside in the rain? Yes, while it is plugged in and charging. The Type 2 to Type 2 cables are IP55 rated and the Type 2 to 3 Pin version is IP67 rated, so British weather is not a problem. Between charges, coil it and keep it off the ground so the connectors stay clean and dry, and avoid parking on it. Is the Type 2 to 3 Pin 10m cable worth having too? It is if you ever park where there is no wallbox. Adjustable from 6 to 12 amps, it draws up to 2.3 kW from a normal 13A socket, which is slow but plugs in almost anywhere, including a relative's garage. Many owners keep one in the boot alongside their main Type 2 cable. Should I go up to the 15m instead? Only if you genuinely need the reach. 15m suits long drives, shared parking courts and awkward corners, but it is bulkier to coil and heavier to carry. Charging speed is identical either way. If 10m reaches with slack to spare, stay at 10m, and if it is borderline, take the 15m.
