Volkswagen publishes two different AC charging figures for the ID.7 and both of them are correct, which is why owners get conflicting answers. Every UK ID.7 has an 11 kW three phase onboard charger as standard, on the Pro, the Pro S and the GTX, in saloon and Tourer form, in every model year. VW's own Tourer press pack also prints 7.2 kW single phase, and that is not a second, slower charger. It is the same unit measured on one phase, which is what a British house provides. So the car is an 11 kW car that behaves as a 7.2 kW car on your driveway. The ID.7 takes a Type 2 to Type 2 Charging Cable, and it has a combined CCS socket where the Type 2 section sits on top and the two DC pins sit below, so a Type 2 cable engages only the upper part. That is normal and it is why the aperture looks larger than the plug. Order the 32A single phase lead for home. One phase is what a domestic supply carries, and it delivers around 7.4 kW, which is everything the ID.7 can take there. The 32A three phase cable is the one that unlocks the full 11 kW, and it only does so at a workplace or a 22 kW public AC post with three genuine phases, where a 77 kWh Pro drops from 11 hours 45 minutes to 8 hours.
