    For a Grandland X Hybrid the right product is a Type 2 to Type 2 cable, and the amperage depends on which onboard charger your car left the factory with. 3.7 kW was standard and 7.4 kW was an option. A 16A cable covers the standard charger fully. A 32A cable covers both, so if you do not know which one you have, 32A is the safe choice. The plug-in Grandland X, sold as Hybrid4 300 with four wheel drive or Hybrid 225 with front wheel drive from 2020 to 2021, carries a 13.2 kWh battery. On the standard 3.7 kW charger a full charge takes about 4 hours. With the optional 7.4 kW charger and a 32A cable that halves to roughly 2 hours. Neither version has any rapid charging, so the cable in the boot is the only way to fill it. Vauxhall dropped the X from the name in 2021, but the plug-in hybrid carried on unchanged until 2024, so the same advice applies to those cars. Now the trap. The Grandland Hybrid launched in early 2024 is a 48V mild hybrid with a 0.9 kWh battery and no charging port whatsoever. It shares almost the same name as the plug-in and it cannot be charged. If your car is a 2024 or later and the badge simply reads Hybrid, walk round it and look for a charging flap before buying anything. From 2025 there is a proper plug-in again, the Grandland Plug-in Hybrid 225, with a much larger 21 kWh pack and 17.9 kWh usable. Same 3.7 kW charger as standard and the same 7.4 kW option, so a full charge is about 5 hours 30 minutes or 2 hours 45 minutes respectively. The Grandland Electric from late 2024 is the full battery car, with 73 kWh usable. Vauxhall does not publish an AC rating in its own material and we believe it to be 11 kW, so we would rather flag that than promise it. A 32A cable gives you 7.4 kW at home and around 11 hours 15 minutes from empty. A Type 2 to Type 2 cable. The plug-in Grandland X of 2020 and 2021, in both Hybrid4 300 and Hybrid 225 form, has a Type 2 socket and a 13.2 kWh battery. Pick 32A if you want the cable to suit the optional 7.4 kW charger as well as the 3.7 kW standard one. Do I need 16A or 32A for a Grandland X Hybrid? 16A delivers 3.7 kW, which matches the standard onboard charger exactly and fills the 13.2 kWh battery in about 4 hours. 32A delivers 7.4 kW and halves that to roughly 2 hours, but only on cars fitted with the optional charger. If you are unsure which yours has, buy 32A and you are covered. How long does a Grandland X Hybrid take to charge? About 4 hours from empty with the standard 3.7 kW charger, or roughly 2 hours if your car has the optional 7.4 kW unit. A 3 pin lead needs around 6 hours 30 minutes. The 2025 Plug-in Hybrid 225 has a larger 17.9 kWh usable pack, so allow 5 hours 30 minutes or 2 hours 45 minutes. Does the 2024 Grandland Hybrid plug in? No. The Grandland Hybrid introduced in early 2024 is a 48V mild hybrid with a 0.9 kWh battery topped up by the engine and the brakes, and it has no charging port. Only the plug-in hybrids and the Grandland Electric accept a cable, so check for a charging flap before ordering. What cable does the Grandland Electric take? A Type 2 to Type 2 cable at 32A. The Grandland Electric arrived in late 2024 with 73 kWh usable and a CCS socket alongside the Type 2 inlet. At home you get 7.4 kW and about 11 hours 15 minutes from empty. Vauxhall does not state the car's AC rating in its own material. Is a three phase cable any use on a Grandland? Not on the plug-in hybrids. Their onboard charger caps at 3.7 kW or 7.4 kW, so a three phase cable delivers exactly what a single phase 32A one does. It would only matter on the Grandland Electric, and even then only at a three phase post, since UK homes are single phase and limited to 7.4 kW.

    Almost every listing you will read says the Hyundai Ioniq 5 has an 11 kW onboard charger. Hyundai's own UK specification documents say 10.5 kW, and they have said so on every model year since 2021. The figure appears in the launch press pack, the 2023 update, the 2024 facelift pricing sheet and the specification guide on Hyundai's site today. It is the same on the Ioniq 5 N. In practice the difference changes nothing about which cable you buy, because a 16 amp three phase lead covers both, but it is worth knowing that the number on this page comes from Hyundai and the one on most other pages does not. Every Hyundai Ioniq 5 charges through a Type 2 to Type 2 Charging Cable. Hyundai puts the flap on the offside rear quarter, roughly where a fuel filler sits on a petrol car. The same flap houses the CCS pins for rapid charging. For home, the 32A single phase cable is the one to order. The 10.5 kW figure describes three phases feeding the building. A British house has one of them, so the Ioniq 5 settles at 7.4 kW on a domestic wallbox and the 32A lead carries all of it. Hyundai prints both figures in its own charging tables, a 10.5 kW three phase row and a 7.2 kW single phase row, which tells you plainly which one applies at home. The 32A three phase version becomes useful once you have somewhere with three genuine phases to plug into, since an 84 kWh car then falls from 12 hours 45 minutes to 9 hours. The 16A cable is a false economy on any Ioniq 5. On the 84 kWh battery, thirteen hours becomes twenty six, which is two nights instead of one. Keep a household socket lead with the car regardless. It delivers the 7.4 kW a British house can supply, which is the ceiling on a domestic wallbox no matter what the car is rated at. Is the Hyundai Ioniq 5 10.5kW or 11kW on AC? Hyundai UK publishes 10.5 kW, in the launch specification, the 2023 update, the 2024 facelift pricing sheet and the current specification guide. Several databases and retailers print 11 kW instead. A 16 amp three phase cable covers either figure, so the practical answer does not change, but 10.5 kW is what the manufacturer states. Will a three phase cable speed up a Hyundai Ioniq 5? Only where three genuine phases exist, such as a workplace or a 22 kW public post. There an 84 kWh Ioniq 5 comes down from 12 hours 45 minutes to 9 hours. On a house it delivers exactly what the cheaper 32A single phase lead delivers, because the supply rather than the cable is the limit. How long does a Hyundai Ioniq 5 take to charge at home? On a 32A cable it is about 12 hours 45 minutes to fill the 84 kWh car from flat, 11 hours 45 minutes for the 77.4 kWh and 9 hours 30 minutes for the 63 kWh. Hardly anyone plugs in with nothing left, and seven hours on a night tariff is worth around 220 miles on the big battery. What length of cable does a Hyundai Ioniq 5 need? The flap is on the offside rear quarter of a 4.655 metre car. A 5m lead works on a drive where the car sits nose first and the wallbox is towards the rear on the driver's side. Reverse in, or put the unit near the house, and the lead has to travel the length of the car, which is 10m territory. The Ioniq 5 N is 60 mm longer and charges in the same place. Does a Hyundai Ioniq 5 need its own cable for public AC charging? Yes it does. Untethered posts across Britain present a bare Type 2 socket and leave the lead to the driver, so one cable serves both home and away.     The Lexus RZ is the rare car where the expensive cable is genuinely the right one. Every 2026 Lexus RZ 350e, 500e and 550e has a 22 kW onboard charger as standard, replacing the 11 kW unit fitted to the earlier RZ 450e and RZ 300e. Lexus spells out what that needs in its own footnote: an AC charger with a three phase supply of 32 amps or greater. Almost nothing else we sell for can use a 32A three phase cable to its full capacity. This one can. Every RZ charges through a Type 2 to Type 2 Charging Cable, which Lexus names directly in its own specification as a Type 2 Mennekes inlet. The charging flap sits on the nearside front wing, so the lead comes in at the kerb-side front corner. At home, the 32A single phase cable is still the right buy, because one phase is all a domestic supply carries and 7.4 kW is where that stops, regardless of what the car could accept. The 22 kW headline only means anything where three real phases arrive. If you charge at a workplace or use 22 kW public AC posts, the 32A three phase cable takes a 2026 RZ from 11 hours 45 minutes to 4 hours. A 16 amp three phase lead would leave half that capability unused, which is the one place on this site where the heavier cable is not an upsell but a requirement. The 16A single phase cable undoes the whole point of a 22 kW car, stretching a full charge to 23 hours 30 minutes and halving the miles put back each hour. It is the only car we sell for where a 32A three phase cable is the difference between using the onboard charger fully and using half of it, taking a full charge from 11 hours 45 minutes to 4 hours. Lexus itself specifies a 32 amp three phase supply for the 22 kW figure. Does the 22kW charger help at home? No. Domestic supplies in Britain carry one phase and stop at 7.4 kW, so a 2026 Lexus RZ charges at exactly the same speed on a home wallbox as the older 11 kW cars did. The 22 kW capability only appears at a workplace or a 22 kW public AC post. Is the Lexus RZ really only 6.6kW on AC? No, and that figure should be ignored on a UK car. Some databases publish 6.6 kW single phase for the RZ 450e, which is the North American specification. Lexus UK's own technical documents state 11 kW three phase for the RZ 450e and RZ 300e, and 22 kW for the 2026 range. What length of cable does a Lexus RZ need? The charging flap is on the nearside front wing of a 4.805 metre car, so 5m works when you park nose in with the wallbox on the passenger side. Anything else on a car this long, and the lead has to run around the nose or down the far flank, which is where 10m is the safer order. Does a Lexus RZ come with a charging cable? Lexus lists a Type 2 Mode 3 32 amp cable and a 3-pin 10 amp cable as standard equipment on the RZ. Owners still buy a second lead for length, for a spare to leave at work, or because the supplied cable is single phase rated and cannot deliver the 22 kW the 2026 car is capable of.

If you park either way round, share a driveway, or use public bays where the post sits behind you, the 10m removes the guesswork. How do I know whether I need Type 1 or Type 2? Look at the socket on the car, not the charge point. A seven pin round socket is Type 2, which covers almost every EV and plug in hybrid sold here since around 2014. A five pin socket is Type 1, found on older cars such as the early Nissan Leaf and the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Will a 5m cable charge my car any faster than a longer one? No. Shorter is cheaper, lighter and tidier to store, but it delivers exactly the same power. A 32A cable is a 32A cable at any length we sell. Your actual rate comes from whichever is lowest of the car's onboard charger, the supply at the charge point, and the cable's amp rating. Should I choose 16A or 32A? 32A if your wallbox supports it, since that gives 7.4 kW against 3.7 kW for 16A, which is roughly half the charging time. 16A only makes sense when the wallbox or the car is limited to 16 amps, in which case the dearer cable buys you nothing. Most modern UK home units are 32A. Can I use it in the rain and leave it plugged in overnight? Yes. The Type 2 to Type 2 and Type 1 to Type 2 cables are IP55 rated, and the 3 Pin versions are IP67 rated, so a wet British night is well within what they are built for. Keep the connectors off standing water, do not drive over the cable, and coil it dry afterwards. My wallbox already has a cable attached. Do I still need this? Not for that wallbox, no. A tethered unit comes with its own lead. A 5m cable is for untethered wallboxes and for public posts, which are socket only and expect you to bring your own. Land Rover puts the flap on the nearside front wing, ahead of the driver's door on a UK car, which is worth confirming on your own vehicle before you measure for length. Choose the 32A single phase cable. A 22 kW lead needs three phases coming into the building, and domestic supplies in Britain carry one, which caps any house at 7.4 kW. That is already above what the Range Rover Sport asks for, so the three phase cable would arrive at the same time as the cheaper one every single night. It only becomes interesting if you also charge a genuinely three phase capable car at a commercial site. The 16A cable is the one to avoid on the newer car. The 32A single phase Type 2 to Type 2 lead is the one to buy. Both plug-in Range Rover Sport generations accept about 7 kW of AC, which is exactly what that cable delivers from a UK wallbox, and neither one can use anything faster. Is the 22kW three phase cable worth paying for on a Range Rover Sport? No. A Range Rover Sport plug-in hybrid is limited to roughly 7 kW by its own charger, and a British house cannot exceed 7.4 kW in any case, so the three phase lead finishes at the same moment as the cheaper one. It is only worth owning if you charge a different, faster car at a three phase site. How long does the current Range Rover Sport plug-in take to charge at home? About 5 hours 15 minutes from empty on a 32A cable, or 9 hours 45 minutes on a 16A one. The 31.8 kWh usable battery is roughly two and a half times the size of the old P400e pack, which is why the newer car has to be charged overnight rather than in an evening. Does the older P400e charge at the same speed? Yes, at about the same rate but for far less time. A Range Rover Sport P400e holds 13.1 kWh and fills in around 2 hours on a 32A cable, so it can be brought back to full between getting home and going to bed. Its 3.7 kW figure on a 16A lead still gets it done in about 4 hours. What length of cable does a Range Rover Sport need? This is a 4.95 metre car with the charging flap on the nearside front wing, so a 5m lead only works when the wallbox is on the same side of the drive as the flap and reasonably close to the front of the car.     The lead to buy for an A8 plug-in hybrid is the Type 2 to Type 2 32A cable. The 60 TFSI e quattro accepts 7.4 kW on AC, and a 32A single phase cable is the only one here that can actually deliver that much. Fit a 16A lead instead and you halve the rate for no reason. Before anything else, confirm that your car plugs in. Only a TFSI e badge has a charging port. A petrol TFSI, a TDI diesel and the S8 have no traction battery and no socket. In Britain the plug-in A8 was sold in long wheelbase form alone, as the A8 L 60 TFSI e quattro, from 2020 to 2025. With short circuit protection and temperature control, you can confidently use this Power Station, knowing that your safety is taken care of. The BASE 5.0 is equipped with a 5kW pure sine wave inverter, capable of powering appliances and devices in situations where there is no access to mains power. It has a Backup Supply function, allowing your appliances to use grid power via the unit and switch over to battery power in 8-20 milliseconds in case of a power cut.
